Chanel Fong Cleared After XL Bully Fatally Bites Keven Jones in Wrexham
Chanel Fong has been cleared of charges related to her XL bully dog, which fatally bit her partner's father, Keven Jones. Mr Jones died from extensive blood loss after sustaining a bite to his leg at a property in Wrexham on 2 December 2022.
During court proceedings, Ms Fong's defence argued that she was not the legal owner of the dog, named Cookie. The prosecution alleged that Ms Fong had been negligent in controlling the animal, leading to the tragic incident.
The court heard testimony regarding the dog's temperament and the circumstances surrounding the attack. Following deliberation, the court determined that Ms Fong could not be held criminally responsible for owning the dog.
This case highlights the ongoing complexities surrounding dog ownership laws and the accountability for dangerous dog incidents within the UK, particularly concerning breeds such as the XL bully, which have recently faced increased scrutiny and regulation.
