Chelmsford Police Arrest Three Teenagers, 14-Year-Old Boy, Over Park Stabbing Death
Essex Police confirmed the arrests of three individuals – a 14-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old man, all from Chelmsford – on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody as enquiries continue into the death of a 21-year-old man, who sustained critical stab wounds in Central Park on Friday, approximately 19:00 BST.
Officers were dispatched to the park following reports of an attack, where they discovered the critically injured victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An Essex and Herts air ambulance was observed at the location on Friday night.
Detective Inspector Lydia George stated that a family is grieving and that police are committed to establishing the full circumstances surrounding the incident. She confirmed that authorities are not currently seeking any further individuals in connection with the stabbing, assuring the public there is no ongoing risk. Central Parkrun announced the cancellation of its Saturday event on police advice.
DI George appealed for public assistance, noting that even minor details could be crucial, given the incident took place in a busy public area. Police presence in the Chelmsford area is expected to continue for several days.
