Dan Driscoll Resigns as US Army Secretary After Eighteen Months

Dan Driscoll has tendered his resignation as the United States Army Secretary, concluding a tenure of around eighteen months. Driscoll, who was the youngest individual to hold the position, cited a “difference in approach” with senior Pentagon officials as the reason for his departure.

His resignation comes after months of reported friction, particularly with the Defence Secretary, centred on strategic direction and resource allocation within the Army. Internal discussions over modernisation programmes and readiness levels were understood to be particularly contentious.

The Pentagon has confirmed Driscoll’s resignation, with an interim appointment expected shortly. His departure marks another instance of high-level turnover within the US military establishment, prompting questions regarding the coherence and stability of defence policy under the current administration.
