Duane Davis Convicted of Murdering Rapper Tupac Shakur in 1996 Las Vegas Shooting

A Las Vegas jury has convicted Duane "Keffe D" Davis of first-degree murder for his role in the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur. The verdict concludes a nearly three-decade investigation into one of the most high-profile unsolved cases in music history.

Prosecutors argued that Davis, 61, ordered the drive-by shooting that resulted in Shakur's death, though he was not the triggerman. Davis, a former gang leader, was arrested in September 2023, following years of public statements where he detailed his presence in the vehicle from which the fatal shots were fired.

Shakur, aged 25, was shot four times on 7 September 1996, in a car driven by Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight, after attending a Mike Tyson boxing match. He died six days later from his injuries. The prosecution presented evidence suggesting the shooting was retaliation for an earlier altercation involving Shakur and Davis's nephew, Orlando Anderson.

Davis is the only person to face charges for Shakur's murder. His conviction marks a significant moment for fans and law enforcement, bringing a degree of resolution to the long-standing mystery surrounding the rapper's untimely death.
