Duke of Sussex Arrives in UK for Charity Engagements, Awaits Mail Publisher Ruling
The Duke of Sussex has arrived in the UK for a series of charity engagements, with a verdict expected imminently in his High Court privacy case against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL).
The legal proceedings stem from a 2020 article published in the Mail on Sunday, which the Duke alleges defamed him by asserting he had misled the public regarding his security arrangements during visits to the UK. He maintains the article implied he had “lied” and “manipulated” public opinion. The publisher denies these claims, arguing the article was a factual account based on court documents and that it did not portray him as a liar.
During his visit, the Duke is scheduled to attend the annual WellChild Awards in London, a patronage he has held since 2007, where he will meet with seriously ill children and their carers. Following this, he will travel to Düsseldorf, Germany, for the Invictus Games.
This visit marks the Duke's first return to the UK since his brief appearance at his father's coronation in May, where he departed shortly after the ceremony.
