Father Describes Helplessness as Seven-Year-Old Son Drowns in Sea Near Aberdeen Beach

Shahin Ahmed described his futile attempts to rescue his seven-year-old son, Muhammad, after the boy was swept into the sea near Aberdeen Beach. Mr Ahmed stated he was repeatedly pushed back by the force of the waves as he tried to reach his son, who was playing in the water with his nine-year-old brother, Ali.

The incident occurred on Friday evening. Muhammad was subsequently pulled from the water by emergency services and transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he was pronounced deceased.

Mr Ahmed explained that Muhammad and Ali had been playing near the shore, with the water initially reaching their knees. He then observed a larger wave pull Muhammad further out. “I was going into the water and trying to get him, but the waves were pushing me back,” Mr Ahmed recounted. “My other son was with me, and he was screaming, 'Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!'”

Emergency crews, including the RNLI and Coastguard, responded to the incident. Police Scotland confirmed the boy's death and stated there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
