Professor Jason Arday, formerly of Cambridge University, has withdrawn from a planned public engagement at the University of Glasgow, citing personal reasons. This cancellation follows recent allegations of plagiarism within his academic publications. A statement from the University of Glasgow confirmed the event's cancellation “at the request of the speaker”.

Multiple other public engagements featuring Professor Arday have also been removed from university websites and promotional materials. These removals include appearances at the University of Bristol and a keynote address at the Society for Research into Higher Education's annual conference.

The accusations of plagiarism emerged earlier this month, prompting scrutiny of Professor Arday's published works. While the specific nature and extent of the alleged plagiarism remain under review, the immediate impact has been the curtailment of his public speaking commitments.

Professor Arday’s career has been notable for his rapid ascent within academia, particularly as one of the youngest Black professors in the UK.
