Former Police Scotland Officer Campbell Petrie Convicted of Nine Rape, Sexual Assault Charges

A former Police Scotland officer, Campbell Petrie, 50, has been found guilty of nine charges of rape and sexual assault following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. The offences occurred over a seventeen-year period, from 2006 until 2023, while Petrie was serving as a police constable.

The court heard that Petrie’s victims included women he encountered through his official police duties, highlighting a grave abuse of power. His crimes involved a pattern of predatory behaviour, exploiting his position of authority to target and assault vulnerable individuals. The charges included multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, demonstrating a sustained period of criminality.

Police Scotland confirmed that Petrie was suspended from duty in 2022 following initial allegations and subsequently resigned.
