Four Arrested, Police Officer Injured During Violent Disorder on Edgware Road After France-Morocco Match
Four individuals are now in police custody and one officer was injured following public disorder on Edgware Road in central London. The disturbances occurred after France’s football win against Morocco, drawing large crowds to the area.
Metropolitan Police confirmed that bottles were thrown and fireworks were discharged by members of the gathering. The officer, who suffered a facial injury, received medical treatment at the scene.
The individuals arrested face charges including violent disorder, assault on an emergency worker, and possession of an offensive weapon. Police units were deployed to manage the situation, which saw Edgware Road temporarily closed to traffic and pedestrians.
Authorities stated that while most individuals dispersed peacefully, a minority engaged in disruptive and unlawful behaviour. Investigations into the full extent of the disorder are ongoing, with further arrests not ruled out.
