Friedkin Group Weighs Everton Sale Under Two Years After Taking Control
The Friedkin Group, owners of Everton Football Club, are reportedly considering a sale of the Merseyside institution. This exploration comes less than two years after the American-based consortium completed its takeover of the club in July 2022.
The current contemplation of a sale follows a period of significant financial scrutiny for Everton, which has included breaches of Premier League profit and sustainability rules. These infractions led to substantial points deductions during the recently concluded football season.
Any potential change in ownership would inevitably reshape the strategic direction of the club, both on and off the pitch. The Friedkin Group’s initial acquisition was valued at an estimated £550 million, securing control from the previous owner, Farhad Moshiri.
This development unfolds as Everton prepares for the next Premier League season, with the financial landscape of English football becoming increasingly complex under evolving regulatory frameworks.
