Girlguiding Modernises Uniform Regulations, Introduces Mix-and-Match Range for Members
Girlguiding UK has unveiled a significant overhaul of its uniform policy, marking the first substantial redesign in over three decades. The new collection, developed over two years with extensive input from members, aims to provide greater comfort and choice.
New Design and Flexibility
The revised uniform range features a mix-and-match approach, allowing girls and women across all age groups – from Rainbows to Rangers and adult volunteers – to pair new official tops with their own choice of trousers, skirts, or other bottoms. This departs from the previous requirement for a full, prescribed uniform.
Key elements of the new range include a modernised colour palette and more practical designs. Girlguiding stated the decision followed feedback indicating members desired more comfortable and adaptable clothing options that better reflected contemporary styles.
The organisation emphasised its commitment to inclusivity and ensuring the uniform supports participation in all activities, from outdoor adventures to meetings. The new items will become available for purchase in early September, with a transitional period expected before the previous uniform is fully phased out.
