Gladiator II Stuntman Sues Paramount Pictures Over On-Set Explosion Injuries
Edward Sarsfield, a stuntman involved in the production of Ridley Scott's 'Gladiator II', has initiated legal proceedings against Paramount Pictures and several associated production entities. Mr Sarsfield claims he suffered severe burn injuries during the filming of a specific sequence involving a burning ship in Morocco.
Court documents detail that the incident occurred on 28th June 2023. Mr Sarsfield alleges he was performing a stunt on a ship intentionally set alight when an unexpected explosion occurred, engulfing him in flames. He states that the incident resulted in 'excruciating' burns across multiple parts of his body, requiring extensive medical treatment.
The lawsuit contends that the production companies failed to implement adequate safety protocols and negligently exposed performers to undue risk. Mr Sarsfield is seeking substantial damages for medical expenses, loss of earnings, and pain and suffering. Representatives for Paramount Pictures have yet to comment on the ongoing legal action.
