Government Implements 15% VAT Reduction on Theme Park Entry and Children's Meals
A new government policy has seen Value Added Tax (VAT) on various leisure activities and food services cut by 15 percentage points, effective immediately. The reduction, from 20% to 5%, applies to entry fees for attractions such as theme parks, zoos, and cinemas, as well as children's meals across the hospitality sector.
This tax adjustment comes as schools nationwide begin their summer break, a period typically associated with increased spending on family outings and entertainment. The stated aim of the government is to stimulate economic activity within these sectors.
Businesses affected by the change are now required to implement the reduced VAT rate. The measure is understood to be a temporary intervention, though no specific end date has been publicly announced.
