Government Implements VAT Reduction to 5% on UK Family Attractions and Children's Meals
A new government initiative has brought a reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) from 20% to 5% for various family-oriented services across the UK. This change, which came into effect as educational institutions commenced their summer breaks, applies to admission fees for a range of attractions and the cost of children's meals.
The policy targets a boost in domestic tourism and seeks to alleviate financial pressures on households. With the summer holiday period now underway, families engaging in local leisure activities or dining out are expected to see a decrease in costs for eligible purchases. This fiscal adjustment reflects an official strategy to stimulate internal economic activity and support the hospitality and leisure sectors.
