Grangetown Fire: Man Charged Following Deaths of Woman and Seven-Year-Old Girl

Cleveland Police have charged a 39-year-old man in connection with a house fire that claimed the lives of a woman and a young girl in Grangetown, near Middlesbrough. Stephen Marflitt, of no fixed address, faces two counts of murder and one count of arson with intent to endanger life.

The blaze occurred at a property on Bruce Avenue on Wednesday. Seven-year-old Chloe Louise Johnson and her aunt, 34-year-old Shelley Ann Clark, died as a result of the fire.

Mr Marflitt is scheduled to appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court later today.
