Former South Wales Police Officer Charged With Rape While On Duty in Swansea
A former South Wales Police officer, Rikki Hall, has been charged with rape, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed. The alleged incident took place in Swansea in January 2023, while Hall, 33, was on duty.
Hall, formerly a police constable, is due to appear at Swansea Magistrates' Court on 25 June. The IOPC initiated its investigation in February 2023 after receiving a referral from the force concerning the complaint.
The watchdog stated that at the conclusion of its investigation in January of this year, a file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The CPS subsequently authorised the charge of rape.
South Wales Police confirmed Hall's dismissal from the force in February 2024, following a conduct hearing regarding an unrelated matter. This development underscores persistent questions about accountability within British policing, particularly concerning alleged abuses of power by officers.
