Mothin Ali, the recently elected deputy leader of the Green Party, has been linked to two rental properties in Birmingham via his company, Ali Property Services Ltd. This connection emerges despite the Green Party's explicit policy to "control and cut private rents" and impose stricter regulations on landlords, whom they describe as benefiting from a "broken system."

Company records show Ali Property Services Ltd owns two terraced houses in Birmingham, both listed for rent. One property is advertised at £995 per calendar month, and the other at £950 per calendar month. Mr. Ali is listed as a director of the company alongside his mother and sister.

The Green Party's platform advocates for national rent controls, an end to 'no-fault' evictions, and a national landlord register to tackle what it terms "unaffordable and insecure housing." The party's co-leader, Carla Denyer, has previously stated that the private rental sector is "broken" and requires fundamental reform.

Mr. Ali has acknowledged his company's role in property management but asserts he does not personally profit from the rental income. He states that the properties are owned by his family and managed by his company, with any revenue primarily covering maintenance costs and mortgage payments. He maintains that his political stance aligns with Green Party policy, advocating for improvements within the rental sector for tenants.
