Hackney Council Investigates Farage Poster Display at Anti-Racism Exhibition

Hackney Council has initiated an investigation after a complaint was lodged concerning the inclusion of posters featuring Nigel Farage in an anti-racism exhibition at the Hackney Museum.

The exhibition, titled 'Roots, Rues and Rascals', opened on 9 May and includes a display where attendees are encouraged to write names of individuals they perceive as 'openly racist' on sticky notes, which are then placed next to a picture of Mr Farage. A formal complaint prompted the Council to launch an inquiry into the display.

A spokesperson for Hackney Council confirmed the investigation, stating: 'We have received a complaint about material in the exhibition at Hackney Museum and are investigating this according to our complaints procedure.'

The exhibition, which aims to explore the history of Black people in Hackney, is scheduled to run until late 2024. The Council has not provided a timeline for the conclusion of its investigation or indicated any potential actions regarding the exhibit's content.
