Idris Ahmed Attacked Teenager, Causing Amputation, Brighton Court Hears
Idris Ahmed, 19, appeared in court in Brighton, charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article. The charges stem from an incident on Brighton beach where a 17-year-old boy sustained severe injuries, leading to the amputation of his leg.
The court heard that the victim had attempted to act as a 'peacemaker' between two groups when he was attacked. The incident occurred during a bank holiday weekend, attracting significant attention from emergency services and local authorities.
Ahmed, of north London, was remanded in custody following the hearing. He is scheduled to appear in court again for a plea and trial preparation hearing next month.
The police investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, with officers appealing for witnesses who were on Brighton beach at the time to come forward with any relevant information or footage.
