Indonesian Teacher Jailed For Sexual Abuse Secretly Released Early, Footage Reveals

Herry Wirawan, an Indonesian teacher convicted of sexually abusing 13 female students and fathering eight of their children, has been released from prison early, undercover footage has confirmed. Wirawan, who received a death sentence in April 2022, was discovered at his home, having served less than half of his initial 15-year sentence.

His release follows a significant reduction of his sentence, which was later commuted to life imprisonment. The Supreme Court then further reduced this to 15 years, a decision that has drawn considerable criticism regarding Indonesia's judicial system and its handling of severe child abuse cases.
