Inquest Begins into Death of Nicholas Brandram, Putney Bridge Suspect

West London Coroner's Court initiated an inquest into the death of Nicholas Brandram, 56, on Thursday. Mr Brandram was the individual publicly identified as a suspect in a highly publicised 2017 incident where a woman was pushed from Putney Bridge into the path of an oncoming bus.

Mr Brandram was found dead at his residence in South Park Crescent, West London, on 16 May. A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and the cause of death is currently withheld, pending further toxicological analysis.

The Metropolitan Police had previously investigated the Putney Bridge incident, which occurred on 5 May 2017, when a jogger pushed Candice Hedge into the road. Ms Hedge sustained minor injuries as the bus driver managed to swerve, narrowly avoiding a direct collision. No arrests were made at the time of the incident.

Mr Brandram's family had previously expressed distress over the police's handling of the investigation and his public identification as a suspect. The inquest proceedings are expected to continue at a later date, awaiting the full findings of the post-mortem and other relevant reports.
