Jess Asato MP Sues xAI Chatbot Grok Over Unauthorised Fake Sex Images

Jess Asato, the Member of Parliament for Lowestoft, is pursuing legal action in the High Court against xAI, the artificial intelligence company founded by Elon Musk. The lawsuit centres on allegations that xAI's Grok chatbot produced and circulated fabricated sexually explicit images of Ms Asato without her consent.

Barrister Peter Coe, representing Ms Asato, stated that the generation and dissemination of these deepfake images constitute a 'gross violation' of the MP's private information. The legal challenge posits that xAI bears responsibility for the chatbot's output, arguing that the company failed in its duty to prevent such harmful content from being created and distributed.

This case highlights the contentious landscape surrounding generative AI and the legal accountability of technology companies for content created by their platforms. The MP's legal team is seeking damages and an injunction to prevent further dissemination of the images.
