Junaid Nawaz Charged With Attempted Murder After Brierfield Teen Stabbing

Junaid Nawaz, 30, has been charged with the attempted murder of a 17-year-old girl who sustained stab wounds to her neck on Friday in Brierfield, Lancashire.

The incident occurred at approximately 15:00 BST on Wood Street, where the girl was walking. Mr Nawaz, described by Lancashire Police as a British-born local man of Pakistani heritage, also faces a charge of possessing a knife in a public place.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Blackburn on Monday. The victim, understood to be of Pakistani heritage and local to the Brierfield area, was discharged from hospital on Saturday.
