Kemi Badenoch Flatters Nicki Minaj After Margaret Thatcher Comparison Post
Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative Member of Parliament, has publicly acknowledged her delight after rapper Nicki Minaj compared her to Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister.
Minaj's Social Media Commentary
Minaj shared a video clip of Badenoch speaking during Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, remarking: "The UK is truly one of a kind. They will portray her in film & TV one day... just like they did with Margaret Thatcher."
Responding on Friday, Badenoch reciprocated the compliment, stating she was a long-time admirer of Minaj's music, particularly the track "Starships." She remarked, "It was very flattering to hear Nicki Minaj compare me to Margaret Thatcher, who is a heroine of mine, and in fact a heroine to all Conservatives." Badenoch added, "It's very flattering that even in the US they can see who is holding Labour to account - it's the Conservatives, it is me, and that's quite a nice thing to see."
Political Context and Minaj's Alignments
The comparison follows recent local election losses for the Conservative Party across England, Scotland, and Wales. Despite the electoral setbacks, Badenoch has maintained that her party is "coming back."
Minaj, a prominent figure in hip-hop, has previously described herself as a staunch supporter of former US President Donald Trump. Notably, she appeared alongside Trump in January, publicly displaying a "gold card" visa – a fast-track programme introduced last December to facilitate US citizenship for affluent immigrants.
