Kilwinning Family Mourns Sophia Aitken After Fatal Stagecoach Bus Collision

A Kilwinning family is grieving the loss of 15-year-old Sophia Aitken, who died on Tuesday after being struck by a Stagecoach bus in Lauchlan Way. The tragic incident occurred in the Ayrshire town, prompting an investigation by Police Scotland.

Sophia's family issued a heartfelt tribute, remembering her as a "beautiful butterfly" who brought joy to everyone around her. They described her as a "ray of sunshine" and expressed profound sadness at her passing, noting that she would be "sorely missed" by her parents, grandparents, and wider family.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 18:45 on Tuesday evening. Despite their efforts, Sophia succumbed to her injuries.
