King Charles III Affirms Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's Non-Working Royal Status to Government, Military

Buckingham Palace has issued a formal letter to various governmental and military institutions, alongside Lord Lieutenants across the UK, clarifying the official status of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The communication explicitly states that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not considered working members of the Royal Family.

This directive from King Charles III aims to standardise understanding across official channels regarding the couple's roles. The clarification was reportedly sent to Prince Harry's team directly as well.

The move follows the couple's decision in 2020 to step back from their duties as senior royals and relocate to California. Since then, the Duke and Duchess have pursued independent charitable and commercial ventures.

This formal notification serves to reaffirm the established position that while Prince Harry remains fifth in line to the throne, his and Meghan Markle's public engagements and representation of the Crown are no longer part of the official royal structure.
