Liberal Democrat MP Cameron Thomas Arrested for Assault and Coercive Control
Cameron Thomas, the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Tewkesbury, faces allegations of assault and controlling and coercive behaviour following his arrest by Gloucestershire Police. Mr Thomas, 43, was arrested on Wednesday and subsequently released on police bail after being interviewed.
A spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats confirmed that Mr Thomas has had the party whip suspended. This action is pending the outcome of the ongoing police investigation into the serious allegations. The party stated it would not comment further while the police inquiry is active.
Mr Thomas, a former RAF officer, has represented Tewkesbury since the 2024 general election. He will continue to sit in Parliament as an independent MP while the investigation proceeds.
