Man, 48, Charged With Attempted Murder After Lurgan Police Station Bomb Attack
A 48-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a bomb attack on a police station in Lurgan in March. The individual also faces accusations of attempting to cause an explosion, hijacking, and possession of explosives with intent to endanger life or damage property.
The charges stem from an incident six weeks prior, when two masked men, one reportedly armed, hijacked a delivery driver. The driver was allegedly threatened with death if he refused to drive a bomb to the police station. Approximately 100 homes were evacuated at the time of the incident due to the credible threat posed by the device.
A woman was previously charged with obstructing police in connection with the ongoing investigation. The man is scheduled to appear at Craigavon Magistrates' Court on Friday, 8 May, to face the charges.
