Man Charged with Dangerous Driving After Six Deaths in Motorway Collision

Elliott Jordan, 34, has been charged with six counts of causing death by dangerous driving. The charges stem from a motorway collision in 2024 which killed six individuals, including four members of the same family and a married couple riding a motorbike.

The incident occurred on the M61 near Preston, Lancashire, on 20 July 2024. Mr Jordan, of Tunley Lane, Wrightington, was remanded into custody ahead of an appearance at Preston Magistrates' Court.

Police confirmed that a family travelling in a car – a 43-year-old man, a 37-year-old woman, and two girls aged 12 and 10 – died at the scene. A married couple, aged 60 and 57, riding a motorbike, also perished in the crash.

Lancashire Police launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the collision. The charges against Mr Jordan follow this extensive inquiry into the fatal incident on the M61.
