A female student has been arrested after three people sustained knife injuries at the Co-op Academy on Plant Hill Road in Blackley, Manchester. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the injuries are not believed to be serious.
Emergency services are at the scene, with officers assisting the school, which announced its closure for the remainder of the day. GMP stated there is no broader threat to pupils or staff, according to a declaration issued shortly after 09:00 BST.
Peter Woods, a parent of a Year 9 pupil, described his alarm upon learning of the incident. He expressed concern about future school attendance and called for clarity on new security measures. A police presence remains outside the high school, where crowds have dispersed from the gates.
