Matthew Vigurs Achieves Rare 411-Yard Hole-in-One at Clevedon Golf Club

Matthew Vigurs, a 43-year-old golfer, recorded a remarkable 411-yard hole-in-one at Clevedon Golf Club in Somerset. The rare feat occurred on the 10th hole, a par four, during a recent round.

Mr Vigurs, who holds a handicap of 16, described feeling "shaking" after witnessing his tee shot find the cup. The shot involved a considerable downhill trajectory, with the ball travelling approximately 200 yards in the air before bouncing and rolling for another 211 yards directly into the hole.

England Golf, the sport's governing body, has reportedly calculated the probability of such an occurrence at an astonishing one in six million. This makes Mr Vigurs' achievement an exceptionally uncommon event in amateur golf.

The golfer recounted the moment, stating that his playing partners initially believed the ball had overshot the green. However, upon reaching the hole, they discovered the ball nestled at the bottom of the flag.

This unlikely accomplishment has garnered attention within the local golfing community, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the sport.
