Menna Taha, 18, Donates Organs to Save Two Lives After Collapse
Menna Taha, an 18-year-old from Ynyshir, Rhondda Cynon Taf, collapsed at her family residence on 20 February before being pronounced dead in hospital on 22 February. Following her passing, Ms Taha’s organs were donated, with her heart and lungs successfully transplanted, saving two lives.
Her mother, Louise Taha, recounted Menna’s sudden collapse, describing how the teenager had been preparing for college when she became unwell. Paramedics were called, and Menna was transported to Royal Glamorgan Hospital, then later transferred to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
Despite medical intervention, Menna’s condition deteriorated. Her parents, Louise and Sherif Taha, made the decision to donate her organs, honouring a previous discussion with Menna where she had expressed a desire to help others. The family has since received a letter confirming the successful transplantation of Menna’s heart and lungs, a detail that provided them with some comfort amidst their profound loss.
The family described Menna as a vibrant and kind-hearted individual with a passion for caring for animals, particularly her cat, Maggie. She was studying animal management at Bridgend College and had aspirations to work in an animal sanctuary.
