Meredith Kercher's Family Condemns Amanda Knox Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Show

Stephanie Kercher has voiced strong disapproval over Amanda Knox's decision to stage a comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Kercher, whose sister Meredith was murdered in Perugia, Italy, in 2007, implored Knox to reflect on the ongoing suffering endured by Meredith's family.

Knox, who was initially convicted and later acquitted of Meredith Kercher's murder, is scheduled to perform a show titled 'The Amanda Knox Show' at The Gilded Balloon Teviot during the festival. Reports indicate the performance will delve into 'trauma, true crime, and injustice'.

Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old student from Coulsdon, Surrey, was found dead in her bedroom. Knox and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were found guilty of murder in 2009. However, both were acquitted on appeal in 2011. Rudy Guede was also convicted of Meredith's murder and served 13 years of a 16-year sentence.

Stephanie Kercher stated, "We are aware of the show and find it incredibly upsetting that Amanda Knox continues to seek to profit from Meredith's murder." She emphasised the family's enduring pain and the perpetual shadow cast by the tragedy. Knox's participation in such an event is perceived by the Kercher family as a further insensitive exploitation of their profound loss, underscoring the persistent lack of accountability for Meredith's death beyond Guede's conviction.
