Newport Teen Lilly Jones Sustained Multiple Stab Wounds to Neck and Torso

A 14-year-old girl, Lilly Jones, discovered deceased in Duffryn Park, Newport, on 22 June, suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck and torso, a post-mortem examination has confirmed. The formal identification process is ongoing, although Gwent Police believe the body is that of the missing teenager.

Lilly was reported missing to Gwent Police on 20 June. Following the discovery of her body, two males, aged 31 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of murder. Both remain in police custody for questioning.

Chief Superintendent Mark Warrender stated that the investigation is in its early stages. Officers are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding Lilly's death. He further indicated that specialist officers are supporting Lilly's family during this period.

Gwent Police have appealed to the public for any information related to Lilly Jones, particularly sightings between 20 June and 22 June. The force has also requested dashcam footage from anyone who travelled through the Duffryn area of Newport during this timeframe.
