Northern Ireland Sees Five Road Deaths, Including Tipperary Teenager, Across Weekend Collisions
Five people died in road traffic collisions across Northern Ireland this weekend, including a 16-year-old male passenger from County Tipperary.
The teenager was involved in a two-vehicle collision on the Belfast Road, near Nutts Corner, before 08:00 BST on Sunday. A black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Volkswagen Passat were involved. The driver of the Passat sustained minor injuries, while two other passengers, including a 10-year-old child, were hospitalised. The child's condition is critical. Police arrested the driver of the other vehicle on suspicion of multiple motoring offences.
In Omagh, Patrick Deery, 61, died at the scene following a single-vehicle motorcycle collision before 11:00 BST on Sunday on the Clanabogan Road.
Saturday saw two fatalities from a road crash in Upper Ballinderry, County Antrim, and another death in Caledon, County Tyrone, from a single-vehicle incident.
Authorities have since reopened the Clanabogan and Belfast roads and appealed for witnesses or dash-cam footage related to these collisions.
