Oxfordshire College Pupil Lewis Waters Dies from Meningitis Infection
Lewis Waters, a sixth-form pupil at The Henley College in Oxfordshire, has died this week after contracting a meningitis infection. His family posted a tribute on Facebook, stating they were 'devastated' and that 'words simply can't describe the heartbreak and upset we're going through'.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) confirmed that two other pupils, one from Reading Blue Coat School and another from Highdown Secondary School and Sixth Form Centre in Reading, are also undergoing treatment for meningitis. On Thursday, the UKHSA announced it had identified a social network connecting Lewis and the two other young people.
As a precautionary measure, close contacts associated with all three individuals are being offered antibiotics.
