Philippine President Marcos Dispels Ill-Health Rumours with Public Workout
Philippine President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has taken an unusual step to quash persistent rumours about his health. Following a recent absence from several public engagements, which fuelled widespread speculation, the President released a video challenging anyone questioning his fitness to join him for a session in the gym.
The video, posted on social media, shows Mr Marcos Jr. engaging in star jumps and other exercises, a direct response to online chatter and opposition claims regarding his physical well-being. His absence had previously been attributed to a bout of flu, but this did little to halt the proliferation of health-related theories.
President's Direct Approach
Addressing the camera directly, the President stated, "I'm well. Come and join me in the gym if you like." This bold move is seen as an attempt to decisively put an end to the gossip that has dogged his administration. The transparency comes after a series of high-profile no-shows, including a significant event at the presidential palace, which had only intensified the public's curiosity.
This is not the first time a Philippine leader has faced such scrutiny. Previous presidents have also grappled with similar rumours, highlighting a recurring challenge for those in high office in the nation. By publicly demonstrating his physical capabilities, President Marcos Jr. hopes to refocus attention on governance rather than his personal health.
