Renee Good Family Sues Trump Officials Over ICE Agent's Fatal Minneapolis Shooting
Lawyers representing the family of Renee Good, a US citizen fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis in 2020, have initiated a lawsuit against several former Trump administration officials. The legal filing alleges that these officials created an 'unprecedented environment for state sponsored violence' within the city.
Ms Good, 34, was killed during an operation targeting a different individual, whom ICE agents were attempting to arrest. The lawsuit names Chad Wolf, former acting Homeland Security Secretary; Ken Cuccinelli, former acting Deputy Homeland Security Secretary; and Henry Lucero, an ICE director, among the defendants. It claims that their policies enabled excessive force and a disregard for civilian life.
The incident occurred as agents sought to apprehend a foreign national with a criminal record. Ms Good was a passenger in the vehicle being pursued. The suit seeks unspecified damages and aims to hold federal authorities accountable for what it describes as a reckless and unlawful use of force during an immigration enforcement action.
