Sandwell Council Orders Three-Month Closure of Cradley Market Mini-Mart
Sandwell Council has enforced a three-month closure order on Cradley Market, a mini-mart located on Colley Gate in Sandwell. The decision follows an investigation into the premises, which culminated in a successful application to Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court.
The closure, effective from 17:00 BST on 25 June, prohibits anyone from entering the shop for 90 days, with exceptions made for emergency services and individuals authorised by the council. Authorities had initially served a closure notice on the mini-mart on 22 June.
A spokesperson for Sandwell Council stated that the order was pursued to address "persistent problems" at the site, which they asserted were impacting the local community. The council indicated that the closure is intended to facilitate a resolution to these issues. The specifics of the "persistent problems" were not immediately detailed by the council.
