Savannah Guthrie Returns to NBC Amidst Ongoing Search for Mother
Guthrie Back on Air as Search Persists
Savannah Guthrie, a prominent figure in US morning television, returned to her anchoring duties on NBC's Today show, marking her first studio appearance since 30th January. Her return comes amidst the ongoing and challenging search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was reported missing on 2nd February.
Viewers and colleagues alike extended a warm welcome, with co-anchors noting the significant public display of support outside the New York studios. Guthrie acknowledged the outpouring of affection, stating, "I'm really feeling the love."
Authorities believe Nancy Guthrie, last seen on 31st January, was taken against her will from her residence near Tucson, Arizona. Despite extensive investigations, a motive has not been publicly disclosed, nor have any suspects been apprehended.
Guthrie, who had temporarily stepped away from her roles, including NBC's Winter Olympics coverage, reaffirmed her commitment to her work last month, stating, "I can't not come back. This is my family." She has previously acknowledged the emotional toll of the situation, even considering whether her public profile could be a factor in her mother's disappearance.
The family announced a substantial $1 million reward in February for any information that leads to Nancy Guthrie's safe return.
