Sheffield United Coach Jonathan Morgan Called Maddy Cusack a Liar to FA Inquiry
Jonathan Morgan, the former head coach of Sheffield United Women, reportedly told a Football Association (FA) inquiry that player Maddy Cusack was a 'liar' and had 'manipulated' details of their relationship. This testimony was revealed during an inquest into Ms Cusack's death, who died by suicide in September 2023 at the age of 27.
The inquest heard that Ms Cusack had expressed concerns about Mr Morgan's conduct, particularly regarding an incident where she felt she was 'humiliated' in front of her teammates. These complaints were made to her family and to the club's general manager, Zoe Johnson.
Furthermore, Ms Johnson informed the FA investigation that she believed Ms Cusack's complaints were 'genuine'. The investigation was launched after Ms Cusack took her own life. The inquiry continues to examine the circumstances surrounding her death, with particular attention to the professional environment at the club and Mr Morgan's interactions with Ms Cusack.
