Singapore Airlines Faces Lawsuit After British Man Dies From Turbulence Injuries

Linda Kitchen, widow of Matthew Kitchen, has filed a lawsuit against Singapore Airlines after her husband's death, which she attributes to injuries sustained during severe turbulence on a flight from London to Singapore. The incident occurred on 25 May, when the Airbus A380 aircraft experienced an abrupt 6,000 ft (1,800m) descent, according to legal representatives.

Mr Kitchen, 73, reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest following the turbulence. He was among over 100 passengers and crew who required medical attention after the flight was diverted to Bangkok. One other passenger, a 68-year-old British man, also died during the event, with an inquest into his death currently underway in Thailand.

The lawsuit contends that the airline failed to operate the flight with adequate care and skill, resulting in Mr Kitchen's fatal injuries. This legal action highlights the ongoing scrutiny of airline safety protocols regarding turbulence, particularly as climate change models suggest an increase in such occurrences.
