Stormont Review Finds No Records of Conduct Complaints Against Jeffrey Donaldson
A review initiated by the Stormont Assembly into the conduct of former Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader Jeffrey Donaldson has found no substantive information regarding alleged misconduct. The independent assessment, led by senior barrister Suzanne Rice KC, was tasked with examining whether any complaints concerning Mr Donaldson had been formally lodged or recorded during his tenure at Parliament Buildings.
Mr Donaldson resigned from his leadership role and was suspended from the DUP in March after being charged with historical sexual offences. These charges are currently proceeding through the courts. The review's mandate was explicitly to investigate internal records within the Assembly pertaining to his conduct, rather than the criminal allegations themselves.
The report, now published, states that Ms Rice's review found "no relevant information" relating to complaints about Mr Donaldson's conduct. This outcome suggests a lack of official documentation within the Assembly's own systems regarding any prior issues that may have arisen. The findings do not, however, preclude the possibility of informal concerns or complaints having been raised outside of formal channels, nor do they reflect on the ongoing criminal proceedings.
