Teenage Hackers Owen Flowers, Thalha Jubair Jailed for Transport for London Cyber-Attack
Owen Flowers, 18, received a 20-month sentence, and Thalha Jubair, 19, was handed a 16-month sentence at Southwark Crown Court for their involvement in a cyber-attack targeting Transport for London.
The court heard that the pair accessed TfL's computer systems, subsequently broadcasting live footage from parts of its network. This unlawful intrusion necessitated substantial rectification efforts and financial outlay by TfL to secure its infrastructure and manage the disruption.
The sentencing reflects the serious nature of cyber-offences against public utilities. Such attacks not only compromise sensitive systems but also entail considerable costs and operational challenges for essential service providers.
