Teenage Inmate at Feltham Young Offenders' Institution Dies in London Hospital Monday
A teenage boy held at Feltham Young Offenders' Institution in west London passed away in hospital on Monday, according to the Youth Custody Service. The juvenile, from HMP Feltham A, which houses children aged 15 to 18 on remand or conviction, was pronounced dead after being transferred from the institution.
The London Ambulance Service confirmed it responded to a report of an "unwell child" at the prison at 22:04 BST. Paramedics treated the boy at the scene before transporting him to hospital "as a priority," where he subsequently died.
A Youth Custody Service spokesperson stated that the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation into the death, standard procedure for all deaths in custody. The Metropolitan Police have been contacted regarding the incident.
