Tony Bartlett Convicted of Murdering Four-Week-Old Son in Bristol
A Bristol jury has convicted Tony Bartlett, 30, of murdering his infant son, Jacob. The four-week-old child sustained severe injuries, including a fractured skull, fractured ribs, and bleeding on the brain, prior to his death.
During the trial, the court heard that Bartlett inflicted the fatal injuries following a night out, returning home in the early hours of 14 April 2019. Prosecutors presented evidence indicating that Jacob’s injuries were deliberately caused, ruling out accidental trauma.
Emergency services were called to the family home in Bristol after Jacob became unresponsive. Despite efforts to save him, the infant died in hospital two days later. The prosecution argued that Bartlett was responsible for the child's injuries, dismissing his claims that Jacob had fallen from a sofa.
Bartlett’s sentencing has been adjourned, with the court set to determine the length of his incarceration for this brutal crime against a defenceless child.
