Two Boys, 12 and 14, Arrested Following Major Fire at Nottingham's Escobar Building
Two boys, aged 12 and 14, have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a major fire at the historic Escobar building in Nottingham. The blaze, which erupted on Tuesday, resulted in substantial damage to the Grade II listed structure on the corner of Maid Marian Way and Derby Road, formerly home to the nightclub.
Emergency services responded to the incident, with fire crews working to bring the inferno under control. The significant disruption to the city centre necessitated road closures and diversions, impacting local businesses and commuters throughout the area.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the arrests and stated that both boys remain in custody as enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing. Authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to assist the investigation into the incident, which has left a notable landmark severely compromised.
