
Two Cyclists Dead, Three Arrested After Car Collision Near Gravesend
Two cyclists have died and another sustained serious injuries after being struck by a car in Shorne, near Gravesend, Kent. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon on the A2 westbound carriageway, approximately one mile from the A227 Wrotham Heath junction.
Kent Police confirmed the fatalities and reported that a third cyclist was taken to a London hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
Three individuals, all men in their 20s, were subsequently arrested by officers investigating the collision. They remain in custody as enquiries continue.
Emergency services, including air ambulances, attended the scene. The A2 was closed in both directions between the Marling Cross and Tollgate junctions for several hours following the incident, causing significant traffic disruption. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
Authorities have urged anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage to contact Kent Police as the investigation proceeds.
