Ugandan Opposition Figure Kizza Besigye Collapses in Court, Hospitalised in ICU

Veteran Ugandan opposition politician Kizza Besigye, 70, was hospitalised in intensive care after collapsing in court. His wife, Winnie Byanyima, confirmed his admission to the ICU, stating that he fell unconscious during proceedings.

Besigye has been held in detention since November 2024. He faces charges of treason, which he has consistently denied. His court appearance concerned these charges, the specifics of which remain contentious.
