UK Airport Drop-Off Charges Rise by One Third, Two Airports Reach £10 Fee

Charges for dropping off passengers directly outside terminal buildings at UK airports have risen by an average of one third over the last year. New research indicates that two of the country's busiest airports now demand £10 for a mere five-minute stay at their closest drop-off points.

London Stansted and Luton Airport have both implemented the £10 fee for short-duration access, with Birmingham Airport following closely at £7 for fifteen minutes. Further afield, Edinburgh Airport charges £5 for a fifteen-minute slot, while Manchester Airport also levies £5 for a five-minute period.

Conversely, Cardiff Airport maintains a free ten-minute drop-off period, with Glasgow Prestwick offering thirty minutes without charge. London City Airport has removed its drop-off charge entirely, though parking for longer durations still incurs fees. The analysis highlights that these charges contribute to the rising cost of air travel, placing an additional burden on passengers and those collecting them.
